We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to join a multidisciplinary project aimed at developing artificial intelligence systems to optimize health in pig and poultry farms by reducing the risk of introducing pathogens. The postdoc will develop and implement models that allow producers to estimate the risk of pathogen introduction on their farms, understand how farms become infected, and estimate the impact of biosecurity measures to prevent the spread of pathogens using data (movement) collected in the field. The results of the model are intended to be used as decision support tools by advisors and/or managers of swine/poultry companies to optimize the health planning strategies of their companies.
Candidates must have good quantitative skills in developing mathematical models to simulate the spread of pathogens, knowledge of quantitative risk assessment models and good skills in R programming. The candidate will join a research group with extensive experience in diseases infectious diseases and veterinary epidemiology at the Veterinary Faculty of Barcelona, one of the leading veterinary schools in Europe.
We offer a three-year contract and a salary commensurate with this type of position in Spain. The joining date can be negotiated but the successful candidate must start no later than October 2024.
Candidates must send their CV before January 21, 2024 to: Prof. Enric Mateu (enric.
mateu@uab.cat) or Prof. Alberto Allepuz (alberto.allepuz@uab.cat)
